About the restaurant
Recently replaced Flannel on a very popular part of Passyunk Ave, DaVinci & Yu is a fusion of Italian and Asian “A modern day silk road dining destination where Italy meets Asia.” Interesting concept for sure but certainly highly dependent on a precise execution of both. With dishes like “Orange Chicken Parm and Italian-Asian Wedding Ramen it certainly intrigued us. We went a few weeks after opening.
We went as a group of four, easily got a table though it was quite well attended. We ordered the Black Cod Dumplings, Sweet Bread Bao, Kung Pao Bao, Bresaola, Prosciutto & Pepperoni Pizza, Italian-Asian Wedding Ramen and the Orange Chicken Parm. Certainly enough for the table.
Food started strong. Dumplings and Bao’s were quite good. Unfortunately that was it. The remaining dishes were pretty poor. It’s rare for us to leave food on the table but a fair amount of the ramen, a decent chunk of the orange chicken and some of the pizza remained uneaten, a sign of its quality.
The atmosphere was OK though the plastic cups and chopsticks didn’t really resonate for us but we imagine the idea is with outside dining, they’ll save on breakages. Decor was fine. Service was good.
